Contents

When you give to the Person-To-Person (PTP) Programme, your generosity is multiplied five times by CMC. For one patient, ₹10,000 of PTP subsidy is matched up to five times by CMC, so a deserving patient receives concession of up to ₹50,000. Together, we bring five times the Joy to children like Jaanu, a 7-year-old girl whose life was saved by CMC’s Medical ICU team. Last year 2,500 patients like Jaanu benefited from PTP thanks to friends like you.

GIVE TODAY

“In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Every day thousands of families arrive at CMC Vellore, in desperate need of healthcare. They use their life savings and sell their belongings to travel to Vellore for medical care. Many are unable to pay for their treatment. We do our best to treat every one, as we believe they deserve the best quality care possible.

Your gift can make a huge difference!

Each one can reach one

CMC’s Person to Person Fund (PTP) began in the 1970s to provide good healthcare at an affordable cost for poor patients. Every year, PTP links hundreds of generous donors to deserving and financially burdened patients. Faithful friends and committed donors help us support over 2000 patients every year.

Your gift helps our patients like Jayashri and her family

Jayashri* is a young mother living in Tiruvanamalai district, neighbouring Vellore. In her 24 years, this courageous girl has faced immense challenges. Her mother-in-law was born with a hearing and speech impairment. Her father-in-law is mentally challenged and cannot work. Her husband works in a saree zari-making factory for a minimum wage. Jayashri is a cancer survivor and takes care of her elderly in-laws and her toddler son. She shares her story:

Some months ago, my mother-in-law developed high fever and painful black spots on her hands and feet. She was struggling to walk. The local hospital said she has jaundice, so I brought her to the Emergency Department in CMC Vellore. I pawned my jewelry for cash but it was not enough.

To my relief, the doctors assured their support when I asked for help. Tests were done and she was treated for an infection in her heart (Infective Endocarditis). She was on a machine to help her breathe (BiPap). We stayed in CMC’s general ward for over two weeks. With medicines and diet control, I hope she will recover enough to take care of my little son, so I can start working. I am very grateful to the doctors and nurses for their care and for subsidising the medical costs.

How does it work?

Our doctors identify disadvantaged patients who need financial help. Their close interaction with the patient’s family helps them asses the urgent financial need. Medical tests, procedures, operations and medicines all add up to the financial burden on our poor patients. The PTP fund can relieve them of some of this strain.

Joy of giving

You can make a direct impact on a patient’s life. A gift of any amount will be matched up to 4 times by CMC Vellore towards treatment for a poor patient. Your kindness can make a difference for a poor family.

Dharani’s story

Dharani is a cheerful girl from the slums of Vellore. She was born with a weak right leg. One day while playing, she fell and hurt herself. She could not stop crying from the severe pain in her weak leg. Her worried mother brought her to CMC. Doctors said a corrective surgery would set right Dharani’s leg. “I am a flower-seller in the market. I cannot afford to pay for any operation,” said her desperate mother.

Our doctors knew that this surgery would transform Dharani’s life. Thanks to generous PTP donors, they were able to successfully operate without worrying about the cost.

Today, eight years later, Dharani is a strong and confident girl. She dreams of being a doctor when she grows up.
