Adarsh (name changed) was born to a missionary couple, a school teacher and homemaker. When Adarsh was in High School, his father was diagnosed with cancer. The family was overwhelmed by the burden of this medical crisis. Adarsh was awarded a government scholarship which helped him complete his schooling despite difficult circumstances. “After my high school, I was blessed to get an admission into CMC Vellore in the AHS stream. My family had a connection to CMC because many years before I was born, my father had a heart surgery at CMC. Now I have got the opportunity to study in CMC,” he says.

After his father’s passing, Adarsh and his mother were worried about the finances for his and his younger sister’s education. “My tutor and hostel warden advised me to apply for the AHS Scholarship. The Institutional Scholarship helped to cover my tuition and mess fees during this stressful time” he recounts. Adarsh is an active participant in student activities on campus, holding elected posts both at the Hostel and within the Association for the students. “I know how important it is to be an Allied Health Professional after witnessing the care my father received. Now I am able to help other patients, especially those with neurological conditions,” says Adarsh. After completing the course this year, he is looking forward to work at a Mission Hospital to fulfil his service obligation following his Internship and then has plans to pursue his Postgraduate Training.
